Emission Evaluation of Diesel Engine with Carbureted Methanol

Journal Title: International Journal of Contemporary Research and Review - Year 2017, Vol 8, Issue 7

Abstract

Current energy scenario all around the world pushes the scientist community to look for alternatives of diesel fuel.Considerable amount ofresearch on different bio-fuels has been done to find out the suitability as per required standards. The objective of the investigation is to compare the emission parameters of a four cylinders, four stroke, and naturallyaspirated diesel engine using differentvolumes (5% and 10%) of fumigated methanol with diesel fuel at a constant engine speed of 1500 rpm underfive different engine loads. Thecarbon monoxide (CO) and Hydrocarbon (HC) emissionswere increased, while oxides of nitrogen (NOx) and smoke emissions were decreased with the increasing concentration of methanol in diesel fuel as compared to diesel fuel
