Encyclopaedic dictionary on archaeology of Tatarstan: conceptual problems

Abstract
Theoretical and methodological problems of creation of the glossary for the preparation of encyclopaedic dictionary, which is devoted to the Republic of Tatarstan archaeology are considered in this article. The creation of similar generalizing editions determines a new important stage in the progress of science and its theoretical and methodological bases. Encyclopaedias and dictionaries serve as a terminological thesaurus with a norm-forming character in order to set up a uniform, unifying and conventional approach to archaeological definitions and their content. There are all prerequisites to claim that at present a considerable source study and theoretical basis for the creation of the encyclopaedic dictionary on the archaeology of Tatarstan has been formed. A considerable experience in complex study and generalization of the voluminous material related to the ancient and medieval history of the region and to research and systematization of archaeological monuments has been accumulated. The complete information about archaeology in the Republic of Tatarstan is supposed to be included in the encyclopaedic dictionary on the archaeology of Tatarstan, paying special attention to archaeology conceptual system, systematizing data on archaeological monuments and those of historical and cultural heritage, providing biographic data of all archaeologists who have ever worked in Tatarstan, and information about all institutions and organizations related to archaeology in the region. The aim of the first work stage consists in compiling a glossary, after which the team of authors is planning to proceed to the creation of the full-text encyclopaedic dictionary.
