ENERGY ASPECT IN SUSTAINABLE DESIGN USING THE EXAMPLE OF MULTI-CRITERIA METHODS OF BUILDING EVALUATION
Journal Title: Structure and Environment - Year 2017, Vol 0, Issue 2
Abstract
The article defines the concept of sustainable development. It shows the characteristics of sustainable buildings and sustainable development goals achieved in the design of new buildings. The article refers to the “passive house” standard and points to the aspect of energy efficiency as a key factor in the assessment of buildings in multi-criteria methods of LEED, BREEAM, Green Building and the method developed by the author of the article. The paper also emphasizes the need for applying multi-criteria evaluation of design solutions using specialized computer programs in the process of sustainable design. A group of industry experts, including professionals in the field of building energy assessment, should be involved in the process of assessment and verification of the applied solutions. Examples of buildings designed and erected in Poland, characterized by high quality design solutions in the field of energy efficiency have been provided. These developments have been awarded the Passivhaus, Green Building, LEED, BREEAM certificates

THE INFLUENCE OF VISCOSITY MODIFYING ADMIXTURE ON THE SHRINKAGE OF PLASTERING MORTARS
This paper presents the influence of viscosity modifying admixture on the shrinkage size of plastering mortars. The composition of cement and cement-lime mortars has been modified by the use of cellulose ethers polymer a...
LANDSCAPE SOLUTIONS FOR SMALL RETENTION
The article presents landscape solutions for natural water retention named in Poland ‘small water retention’. The paper covers examples of neighbourhood scale interventions, which use natural environmental factors to opt...
THE TRANSFER COEFFICIENT OF HEAVY METALS FROM THE INPUT SEWAGE SLUDGE TO THE ASH
Sewage sludge incineration may have adverse impact on the environment due to heavy metals toxicity. Heavy metals concentrations in sewage sludge ash increased in comparison to concentrations in sewage sludge. The aim of...
IMPACT OF SUPPORT CLOSED SECTION RIBS ON THE CRITICAL MOMENT FOR LATERAL TORSIONAL BUCKLING OF STEEL BEAMS
The study presents the results of theoretical investigations into the effect produced by support closed section ribs on the critical moment for lateral torsional buckling (Mcr) of bisymmetric I-beams. Elastic restraint a...
THE ISSUE OF TRANSIENCE IN ARCHITECTURE AND THE PROBLEMS OF CONSERVATION PROTECTION IN THE SELECTED MODERNIST BUILDINGS
The issue of permanence and transience in architecture has intrigued both the theorists and the practitioners dealing with the creation of buildings since antiquity. We construct buildings assuming their durability and l...
