ENGINE TOXICITY REDUCTION BY IGNITION PROCESS IMPROVEMENT

Journal Title: Автомобильный транспорт - Year 2009, Vol 24, Issue

Abstract

The experimental data of the exhaust gases toxicity and fuel consumption for engine MeMz-207 with the base ignition system and with the ignition system by nanosecond discharge have been presented. The experimental results have shown that the non-thermal ignition system usage leads to significant increasing of the fuel combustion completeness and to the toxicity reduction both for engines operating on liquid fuel and for ones using natural gas. The theoretical evaluation of the combustion products composition and of the physical mechanisms of short pulse discharges influence on the ignition process has been performed.
