ESSAY AS A CONDITIONAL INTEGRITY (“FIVE BOOKS” BY I. ANDRUSYAK)

Abstract
The following article is about reasons for essay cyclization. Attention is paid to the uniqueness of essay cycle in comparison with lyrical and prose cycles. I. Andrusyak’s “Five Books” cycle is analyzed and conclusions are made about the conditional nature of this integrity, created by the principle of string-like arrangement, not synthesize. Emphasis is made on the fact that cycle is arranged based on the author’s will, thus its logic is clear only to him. Assumption is made that artistic priorities and tastes for the author in the state of sadness play a crucial role, because works are relatively similar in size, are written in a generally similar style. As a result, the cycle “Five books” does not differ a lot from other works in the compilation “Oak trees and lions”. Narrator that becomes a meditator in essay cycle is also inhomogeneous, because each new time he appears in new roles and gives different assessments to his colleague. He combines the role of writer, critic, artist, common reader etc. Open nature of essay is ticcycleis high lighted through hit multiplicity which can grow beyond its borders under certain conditions. It is an integrity, which is conditional, because it is formed in the system of artistic coordinates which is broken itself, since its elements may only have indirect semantic links. Therefore, this system of coordinates is flexible, easily replaceable, easily changeable. In this case both the author and the reader serve as links. The author proposes his own version of the system, while the readers themselves decide on the hierarchy of elements in it, based on their own system of values.
