Essence and directions of the development of the enterprise: theoretical aspects

Abstract
Annotation. The purpose of the article to substantiate the theoretical and methodological foundations and directions of enterprise development taking into account the elements of resource-saving development. Methodology of research. Solving the problems set in the article is carried out with the help of such general scientific and special methods of research: analysis and synthesis, generalization, graphic method. Findings.The existing approaches to the definition of enterprise development are investigated and summarized: quantitative, qualitative, complex, systemic and process. The actual definition of enterprise development from the position of the process approach is offered. The directions of enterprise development are generalized and systematized, resource-saving development is singled out as a separate direction, which combines all kinds of activities. Practical value. The development of an enterprise should be understood as a process of quantitative, qualitative and structural changes that lead to the transition of the enterprise to a new level of existence. It is advisable to divide the development of the enterprise by content and by type of activity. Uniting development for all types of activities is resource-saving development of the enterprise.
