Essential oil of the aerial parts of Lavandula officinalis from Iran

Journal Title: International Research Journal of Applied and Basic Sciences - Year 2015, Vol 9, Issue 9

Abstract

Essential oil (EO) extracted by hydrodistillation from Iranian Lavandula officinalis was characterized by means of GC/MS. In the case of L.officinalis, 48 compounds were identified representing the 100 % of the total oil. The main constituents of the oil were 1,8-cineole (31.18 %) and camphor (11.58 %). These results indicate that L.officinalis EO and its main compounds might be applicable in natural medicine and healthy food.
