Estimation of field biotic index and water quality of Abbasabad dam (Yazd province) in summer season using aquatic insects fauna

Abstract
During July, August and September 2012 studies were carried out on the field biotic index of Abbasabad dam in Mehriz region (Yazd province) using aquatic insects fauna. A total of 11 families were collected. In this survey, biotic index of Abbasabad dam was 5.93 and evaluation of the water quality based on the biotic index was calculated. Water quality of Abbasabad dam in Mehriz region was fair (Fairly significant organic pollution) during this survey. The aquatic insects were separated into different families with the help of available keys. Some families identified by Dr. Hadi Ostovan in Iran.
