The main aim of the article is to study the ethno-cultural specifics of representation of the notion of respect in the microfields «szacunek» and «respect». The following tasks were set to achieve this aim: to distinguish the semantic components of the microfields «szacunek» and «respect» from the structure of the lexical-semantic fields of «patriotyzm» and «patriotism»; to analyze their central-peripheral organization; to examine the types of semantic oppositions between lexemes; to reveal the semantic relationships with other microfields at the lexical-semantic fields of «patriotyzm» and «patriotism»; to establish the universal and national specific semantic elements of studied microfields. To accomplish the assigned tasks the methods of component analysis and analysis of semantic oppositions are applied. The object of the study is the structural-semantic organization of the microfields «szacunek» and «respect». It was found, that the semantic microfield «szacunek» is formed by 35 words in the modern Polish language. 14 words constitute the center of the field, 21 element is functioning at the periphery. That the semantic microfield «respect» contains 39 lexemes in the modern American version of English: 13 of them are in the center and 26 are peripheral. In further studies it will be productive to follow the implementation of the analyzed semantic relations in texts and to compare the results with other languages
