ETYMOLOGY OF SLANG: ITS ORIGIN AND DEFINITION

Abstract
The English language can be categorized in different social varieties, and one of important subsystems of modern English is slang. The topicality of my investigation is conditioned by the necessity to study different colloquial varieties of English, mainly the peculiarities of slang. It is a topical issue of contemporary English which needs to be tackled appropriately. The article discusses the etymology of slang, i.e. its origin and definition. The definitions of Kazakh and foreign scholars are presented herein. The article also dwells on some examples and usage of slang. It concludes with the importance of the continuous scrutiny and shades some light on future research.
