Abstract
The Performance of Unified Power Flow Controller (UPFC) on Fault Current Limitation in a 330kV Power Network. The SIMULINK model of the Nigerian 330kV system was developed and the model of the UPFC was developed and integrated into the power system model. Results from simulation carried out showed the versatility of the UPFC in the protective limitation of excessive fault current in the system. Evaluation carried out indicated that the UPFC achieved an effective average of 59.23% fault current limitation. This result was shown to have high impact for the protection of critical assets within the power system such as circuit breakers. At a fault impedance of 0.0001Ω, the UPFC provided a 45.81% protection margin for the type of high voltage circuit breakers used on the 330kV system. Apart from interrupting capacity of circuit breakers, this action of the UPFC would also help to increase the life expectancy of circuit breaker contacts between overhaul.

Design of power system stabilizer for damping power system oscillations
The problem of the poorly damped low-frequency (electro-mechanical) oscillations of power systems has been a matter of concern to power engineers for a long time, because they limit power transfers in transmission lines...
A Novel Dual Inductor DC-DC Buck Converter
A novel DC-DC Buck Converter using dual inductor and switched capacitor is proposed. Proposed circuit consists of two inductor instead of single inductor used in conventional dc-dc buck converter. The proposed converter...
Applying Parametric Functional Approximations for Teaching Electromechanical Systems
In this paper functional approximations for the parameters of a DC machine are proposed. These nonlinear algebraic approximations are based on the experimental data that are obtained by carrying out several steady state...
State of Art on Short Term Load Forecasting Using Artificial Neural Network
Due to centralized power system and continuous varying nature of load it is very difficult to balance demand and generation at all time. It is due to the fact that generation can’t be controlled with the same pace as loa...
