Evaluation Method of Collision Risk by Using True Motion
Journal Title: TransNav, the International Journal on Marine Navigation and Safety of Sea Transportation - Year 2017, Vol 11, Issue 1
Abstract
It is necessary to develop a useful application to use big data like as AIS for safety and efficiency of ship operation. AIS is very useful system to collect targets information, but this information is not effective use yet. The evaluation method of collision risk is one of the cause disturb. Usually the collision risk of ship is evaluated by the value of the Closest Point of Approach (CPA) which is related to a relative motion. So, it becomes difficult to find out a safety pass in a congested water. Here, Line of Predicted Collision (LOPC) and Obstacle Zone by Target (OZT) for evaluation of collision risk are introduced, these values are related to a true motion and it became visible of dangerous place, so it will make easy to find out a safety pass in a congested water.

Arctic Shipping and Risks: Emergency Categories and Response Capacities
The sea ice in the Arctic has shrunk significantly in the last decades. The transport pattern has as a result partly changed with more traffic in remote areas. This change may influence on the risk pattern. The critical...
Distributed Situation Awareness in pilotage operations: Implications and Challenges
Pilotage is considered as the most critical leg of navigation and a complex operation in maritime domain. In this paper, we argue that Distributed Situation Awareness (DSA) is an important construct in pilotage as the in...
Study of Green Shipping Technologies - Harnessing Wind, Waves and Solar Power in New Generation Marine Propulsion Systems
The purpose and scope of this paper is to describe the complexity of the new generation marine propulsion technologies implemented in the shipping industry to promote green ships concept and change the view of sea transp...
The Impact of Family and Job Content on Swedish Seafarers’ Occupational Commitment – A Gendered Issue?
Ongoing research has indicated important effects on seafarers’ occupational commitment due to gender and family situation. In this study, these findings have been elaborated further by controlling for the effect of perce...
A Study on the Performance Comparison of Three Optimal Alpha-Beta-Gamma Filters and Alpha-Beta-Gamma-Eta Filter for a High Dynamic Target
The Alpha-Beta-Gamma tracking filter is useful for tracking a constant acceleration target with zero lag error in the steady state. It, however, depicts a constant lag error for a maneuvering target. Various algorithms o...
