EVALUATION OF ANIMAL HUSBANDRY AND AGRICULTURE BASED ECONOMY IN THE STEPPE TURKS

Abstract

The tribes living in the Eurasian steppes before Ġslam is called “The Peoples of Steppe”. Some of these tribes Cimmerians, Scythians, Sarmatians, Huns, Köktürks and Uighurs. This peoples had a nomadic as a way of life. The main source of livelihood for settle migrate the Turks of steppe is animal husbandry. Animal farming is important to the economy of the steppe. The Turks have made horse breeding, sheep harbored. Animals such as cattle and oxen except for horses and sheep were fed by the Turks. Hunting has an important place in the Turkish economy. Hunting, has been usually in the form of forest hunting and river fishing. Meat takes first place in between the foods comsumed by the Turks. Vegetable are not important in life of Turks. The storage conditions of meat let to the emergence of such as bacon, sausage, canned food species. Milk and milk products are the most basic products the life of steppe. Yogurt, butter, cheese are the most important products in this life. Kımız obtained from mare‟s milk is the national drink of the Turks. Turks wore a dress from skin of animals for breeding. Turks have achieved fabrics cloth weaving. Carpet, ruğ weaving has affected the economies of The Turks advanced because it is. Agricultural activities forms one of the important aspects of the steppe economy. Between grown foods are included such as apple, corn, barley, wheat products. Between the crops they grow hemp which industrial plants are also available. Turks as they meet their own needs grow agricultural products, sold in more than they need.
