Journal Title: Journal of the Human and Social Science Researches - Year 2016, Vol 5, Issue 4
Abstract
This study has two objectives. The first is to investigate the question why the Locarno Treaties are needed in the search for peace after the First World War in Europe. In this context, the process leading to the Locarno Treaties are tried to be dealt with in general. The second purpose of this study is to examine how this process in Europe affected the Turkish foreign policy. In this framework, the Mosul Question and the Turkish-Soviet Treaty of Neutrality of 1925 are addressed. Especially in the second part, we give the utmost importance to use primary sources. In addition, we prioritize to use detailed studies of this subject. Preparation of this article, which is from domestic and foreign sources, is encouraged by having no prior research on this topic. For this, the study is expected to provide a basis for subsequent studies. Conclusion of this study is that Soviet Union and Turkey are affected respectively by the Locarno Treaties and the decision of the League of Nations on Mosul into a closer relationship between two countries.
