EVALUATION OF FACTORS AFFECTING CHOICE OF ACCOUNTING PROFESSION: AN APPLICATION REGARDING STUDENTS AT USAK UNIVERSITY FACULTY OF ECONOMICS AND ADMINISTRATIVE SCIENCE

Abstract

The aim of this research is to evaluate and determine the factors effective in selecting their professions in the accounting area of the students taking an accounting education. The sample of this research is comprised of 1053 students who has been educated in the departments of Business Administration, Economic, Public Administration, Public Finance and Econometrics, Usak University Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences. The research data was collected with survey method. In the analysis stage, Levene's test, ANOVA, Variance and Scheffe-posthoc analyses were used to measure the relationship between the factors of validity and reliability test- factor analysis- the factors in factor analysis and demographic characteristics. In the result of the research factors were categorized in 7 dimensions that are effective for the students who are taken accounting education and are candidates for potential accounting professions. These factors are called as personal preferences, expectation of dignity and social status, professional experience, environmental effect, working conditions, free work conditions, professional development. There was also a meaningful relationship between personal preferences, expectation of dignity and social status, professional experience, free work conditions factors and departments that students study.
