EVALUATION OF GENERAL DEVELOPMENT TRENDS AND INTENSIFICATION OF HORTICULTURE IN VINNYTSIA REGION

Abstract

Current state of manufacturing horticultural produce determines the necessity to switch enterprises of the branch to а brand new way of development and this requires monitoring branch intensification state at macro-, meso- and micro levels, assessment of key performance indexes of horticultural enterprises taking into account the influence of external and internal environment, which constitutes the aim of the research and determines its topicality. Vinnytsia region traditionally holds the lead among the regions of Ukraine in manufacturing horticultural produce, its processing and growing planting material. It is found that 20% of new plantings of Ukraine are concentrated at present in Vinnnytsia region. About 100 enterprises and farms perform in horticulture branch and berry production, they produced 292.3 thousand tons of output and employed 10 thousand people in 2015. Vinnytsia region ranks first in the area size of fruit and berry plantations in fruit-bearing age (27.5 thousand ha as of 01.01. 2016). In 2014 the gardens were planted on the area of 1124 ha. Over the analyzed period the main producers of fruits and berries in Vinnytsia region were private peasant households and farm enterprises with the tendency to the reduction of the former and increasing the latter in general fruit and berries production volume. Analysis of key indexes of horticulture development in Vinnytsia region supports the conclusion about integral influence of resource factors on the result of business activity of all business entities of the branch. Moreover, important part of the mechanism providing sustainability of regional branch entities could be taking into account and effective use of economic development factors by means of agrarian and industrial integration, horizontal and vertical cooperation, development of economic relations based on planning and prognostication, improvement of financial, credit and insurance systems, economic stimulation and activation of market position.
