EVALUATION OF MACROELEMENTS AND ESSENTIAL OIL CONTENT IN PLANTS FROM LAMIACEAE FAMILY

Abstract
Studies included three herbs from Lamiaceae family: sweet basil Ocimum basilicum L., cv. ‘Wala’, savory Satureja hortensis L. cv. ‘Saturn’ and marjoram Origanum majorana L. cv. ‘Miraż’. In the fresh herb of these species, the content of macroelements and essential oils were determined. The content of macroelements and essential oil in the raw material was characterized by a high variability determined by species and the developmental stage of plants. Basil contained the greatest amount of macroelements, then savory and marjoram. Content of macroelements in the herb of these plants can be arranged in the following order: K>N>Ca>P>Mg>Na. The most favourable harvest time of the herb for savory and marjoram is the beginning of fl owering, while for basil, the full of fl owering stage. During plant vegetation, the greatest amount of essential oil was determined in savory herb and the least amount was found in basil.
