Evaluation of properties of biomass used for energy purposes

Journal Title: CHEMIK nauka-technika-rynek - Year 2011, Vol 65, Issue 6

Abstract

Biomass is a technologically difficult fuel due to its physical and chemical properties, significantly different from coal combusted in power plant boilers. At the Institute for Chemical Processing of Coal research, concerning determination of different properties of biomass used in power industry, has been carried out since many years. The paper discusses physical and chemical properties of wood biomass, biomass from energy crops as well as waste from farming (the so-called agricultural biomass).
