Evaluation of seismic mitigation of embankment model
Journal Title: Frattura ed Integrità Strutturale - Year 2009, Vol 3, Issue 8
Abstract
Conducting experiment on embankment model by shaking table could be an accurate method to evaluate the behavior of embankment or any structures under seismic loading. In this research work, in order to assess the function of seismic force and accurate placement of dense zone in the embankment model, the results of three experiments have been considered. To evaluate the reaction of the embankment model, it was measured the stress in the system and photographs were taken. The results of three experiments indicated that suitable arrangement of dense zone is the main factor at the play in embankment stability, and in predicting the possibility of embankment behavior

Elastic wave propagation and stop-band generation in stronglydamaged solids
In this work, we study the propagation of elastic waves in elongated solids with an array of equallyspaceddeep transverse cracks, focusing in particular on the determination of stop-bands. We consider solidswith di...
Multiaxial fatigue of aluminium friction stir welded joints:preliminary results
The aim of the present research is to check the accuracy of the Modified Wöhler Curve Method (MWCM) in estimating the fatigue strength of friction stir (FS) welded tubular joints of Al 6082-T6 subjected to in-pha...
Pressure vessels design methods using the codes, fracture mechanics and multiaxial fatigue
This paper gives a highlight about pressure vessel (PV) methods of design to initiate new engineers and new researchers to understand the basics and to have a summary about the knowhow of PV design. This understan...
Fatigue crack initiation and propagation in lotus-type porous material
The investigation of fatigue strength of lotus-type structure with nodular cast iron as a base material using computational model is analysed in present study. The irregular pores distribution in transversal and&n...
Estimate of compressive strength of an unidirectional compositelamina using cross-ply and angle-ply laminates
In this work has been estimated the compressive strength of a unidirectional lamina of acarbon/epoxy composite material, using the cross-ply and angle-ply laminates.Over the years various methods have been develope...
