EVALUATION OF SELECTED ELEMENTS OF METABOLISM OF THE PUCK LAGOON DRAINAGE BASIN AND BASIC ASSUMPTIONS FOR PROGRAMME OF WATER ENVIRONMENT IMPROVEMENT

Abstract
A preliminary evaluation of metabolism of the Puck Lagoon drainage basin, and the input of components participating in its formation, are presented. Analysis takes into account loads of BODs, total nitrogen, general phosphorus and amounts of sewage discharged from the basin into the Lagoon. Selected statistical data and results of measurements allowed to calculate the basic elements of the water and sewage balance for the area. Also, amounts of generated final products of metabolism and of biogene loads discharged by rivers into the Lagoon are assessed. The final part of the paper is given to assumptions for the programme of improvement of water environment quality in the Puck Lagoon basin. Necessary shielding activities, limiting propagation of pollutants, are defined.
