Evaluation of Selenium Deficiency and Its Treatment Using Сefasel in Patients with Gastroenterological Diseases

Abstract
The article presents research data on selenium deficiency in patients with chronic gastritis, chronic pancreatitis, chronic hepatitis, nonspecific inflammatory bowel diseases. It was found that selenium deficiency in patients was observed in approximately 40 % of cases. The vast majority of patients with gastrointestinal diseases and selenium deficiency had violations of the antioxidant system, although the unique characteristic changes were not observed. The findings about the efficacy of treatment with cefasel, sodium selenite preparation, which quickly adjusts the level of selenium and has a good tolerability, are presented.
