Evaluatıon of Susceptıbılıty of Staphylococcus Aureus Straıns That Isolated From Blood Cultures in Samsun Ondokuz Mayıs Unıversıty Hospıtal Between 2014-2017
Journal Title: UNKNOWN - Year 2018, Vol 4, Issue 1
Abstract
Objetive:Staphylococcus aureus is known to be the most important cause of bloodstream system infections. Isolation frequency of the microorganism and drug resistance of it, might give a better sight to the physician to apply practical treatment. In this study, as a retrospective result, isolated S. aureus species are found in two MRSA and MSSA classes of drug resistance properties. Method:Total of 468 of S. aureus species are recorded in blood culture isolated samples during January 2014- September 2017. Incubation of cultured blood samples are all done by full-automatic BacT/ALERT 3D system. Antibiotic resistance assays and identifications are all done by full-automatic Vitek2 Compakt and Vitek MS systems. Antimicrobial susceptibility was evaluated according to the EUCAST (European Committee on Antimicrobial Susceptibility Testing). Results: It is found to be a significant distance between MRSA and MSSA in resistance to antibiotics such as penicillin, erythromycin, clindamycin, trimethoprim, gentamycin, vancomycin, teicoplanin, ciprofloxacin and linezolid. Internal service inpatients, patients with invasive infection risk, urine catheter and patients with non-oral feeding circumstances are more reported as MRSA bacteriaemia cases than MSSA. Conclusion: Resistance to antibiotics is developing due to abuse and unnecessary administration of antibiotics. Controlled and under observation use of antibiotics besides of frequently profiling, evaluation, and report of antibiotic resistance to responsible committees can serve in favor of stopping antibiotic resistance development.
