Evaluation of Vickers Hardness the Bulk Fill Type Resins: In vitro study

Journal Title: Stomatos - Year 2018, Vol 24, Issue 47

Abstract

This study aimed to verify the superficial and deep Vickers hardness of two flow type composite resins. The samples were divided into two groups: a single increment composite resin group, Filtek Bulk Fill Flow and another for conventional composite resin, Filtek Z350 XT Flow. Thirty specimens were prepared, 15 for each group. For the statistical analysis of the results the Student’s T test was used, showing that the average hardness of the top bulk resin was 26.08, with a standard deviation of 2.04 and a hardness of 18.58 with standard deviation of 3.19 and for the Z350 resin the average hardness at the top was 43.15, with a standard deviation of 2.89 and at the bottom of 21.89, with a standard deviation of 4.51. Based on the results of this study, it can be concluded that the Filtek Z350 Flow Composite resin presented Vickers hardness superior to Filtek Bulk Flow resin, both in the superficial and deep part, but its correlation between superficial and deep was 51%, while the material of single increment obtained a better result in this correlation, 71%.
