EVOLUTION OF THEORETICAL AND METHODOLOGICAL FOUNDATIONS OF COMPARATIVE ECONOMICS

Abstract
The article is devoted to the research of the evolution stages of theoretical and methodological foundations of comparative economics. The author singles out and describes the following stages of the evolution: use of comparison as a logical method in the pre-scientific period of economic research; application of comparative analysis as a part of a general theoretic method in the works of representatives of the classical political economy; application of comparative historical method by representatives of the historical school of Marxism; transformation of comparative economics into an independent area of economic research; crisis of the traditional comparative economics; occurrence and development of the new comparative economics. The article represents algorithms of comparative analysis as well as theoretical and methodological limitations of four research programs of the new comparative economics (i.e. comparative analysis of economic systems, comparative institutional analysis, ordoliberalismus, regulation theory). The author justifies the necessity of a comprehensive comparative study of the major trends and contradictions in the development of national economies in the era of globalization.
