Existential theology: the prologue to the phenomenon of post-existentialist time

Abstract
The article considers the problem of correlation between existentialism and theology in our time. The review of prerequisites for the formation and development of existential theology as a paradigm of postmodern theology antipode is done. The article reveals the importance of the influence of Kierkegaard’s ideas and representatives of existentialism on the formation of post-existentialist thinking of modern theologians – John Macquarrie, Howard Slaatte and Merold Westphal. The existential interpretation of religion as the basis of ethics is substantiated.
