Experience of design and construction of altitude multifunctional complexes in the city of Dubai (UAE)

Abstract

The article raises the urgent issue of design features of high-rise multifunctional complexes in Dubai (United Arab Emirates). The differences between monofunctional (with one dominant function) and multifunctional (several equivalent functions for the occupied volume of a building) high-altitude complexes of multifunctional purpose are considered. The analysis of the most significant high-rise buildings of the city of Dubai: Burj Khalifa, Princess Tower, Marina Torch, Elite Residence, Almas Tower, JW Marriott Marquis Dubai, Emirates Office Tower, Rose Rayhaan by Rotana, The Al Yaqoub Tower, The Index Tower, HHHR Tower, Burj al Arab, Ocean Heights, Tower of Kayan or Infinity Tower. It should be noted that the city of Dubai today ranks third in the world among cities with the largest number of high-rise buildings and, in this respect, even ahead of the capital of the United Arab Emirates  the city of Abu Dhabi. For each of the considered high-altitude multifunctional complexes, a brief description is given that includes data on the design organization, the year of completion of the construction work, data on the height and number of floors, systematized the basic data on architectural-planning and space-spatial features, identified the main and associated functional components. The data obtained during the analysis allow to identify the optimal number of floors, height and functional composition for the future design of architectural designs of high-rise multifunctional buildings in the United Arab Emirates and other countries with similar climatic and climatic conditions of hot climate. Most of the recently built high-rise buildings in Dubai have a combined functional character. In one architectural space, the functions of residential, hotel and office premises, financial and commercial facilities are combined, numerous facilities of trade, sports and leisure are located, there are necessarily domestic objects and auxiliary services.
