Experiment of Droplet Size Distribution in Selective Catalytic Reduction System of Diesel Engine

Abstract

The droplet size distribution of two types of urea injection systems was measured by using laser analyzer. The droplet size distribuition of water and urea-solution was investigated and compared. The effect of injection pressure and injection pulse width on the droplet size of the airless injection system was studied. For the air assisted injection system, the pressure of auxiliary gas was changed and the droplet size distribution of the spray leaving the injector was measured. Experiment results indicate that it is feasible to use pure water instead of urea solution for the spray test. The injection pressure of the airless injection system is increased from0. 2 MPa to 0. 9 MPa, and the sauter mean diameter of the spray is reduced from 146 μm to 49 μm. Airless injection system with small injection pulse width in the same injection period is beneficial to droplet size. The spray atomization of air assisted injection system is better than that of airless system. Increased auxiliary gas pressure with air assisted injection system improves spray atomization.
