Experimental Evaluation of Mechanical Properties of Friction Welded Dissimilar Steels under Varying Axial Pressures
Journal Title: Strojnicky casopis - Journal of Mechanical Engineering - Year 2016, Vol 66, Issue 1
Abstract
The present study emphasizes on joints two industrially important materials AISI 304 with AISI 1021steels, produced by friction welding have been investigated. Samples were welded under different axial pressures ranging from 75MPa to 135MPa, at constant speed of 920rpm. The tensile strength, torsional strength, impact strength and micro hardness values of the weldments were determined and evaluated. Simultaneously the fractrography of the tensile tested specimens were carried out, so as to understand the failure analysis. It was observed that improved mechanical properties were noticed at higher axial pressures. Ductile failures of weldments were also observed at 120MPa and 135MPa axial pressures during fractography analysis.

A Paradigm for the Analysis of Preloaded Bolted Joints
The purpose of this paper is to present a paradigm, or guide, to the analysis of preloaded bolted joints made using multiple bolts. Classical analysis methods are applied to the interaction of the joint elements subjec...
Cross-Coupled Heat and Moisture Transport Part 2/1: Applications in Mechanics
Based on the theory laid down in the Part 1 [1] in this paper we are going to display applications in physics and especially in mechanics. After a short summary on coupled fields in mechanics, we generally analyze the...
Methods of Testing of Sound Insulation Properties of Barriers Intended for High Frequency Noise and Ultrasonic Noise Protection
Two test stands for determining sound insulation in the frequency range above 5 kHz were made. One consisted of two horizontally adjacent reverberation rooms and a special source of high frequency sounds and ultrasound...
A Closed-Form Buckling Formula for Open-Coiled and Properly Supported Circular-Bar Helical Springs
As a continuation of the author’s previous studies on the buckling analysis of helical springs, a closedform formula having been obtained with the help of the artificial neural network (ANN) is proposed and discussed in...
Modeling of Coolant Flow Within the Spent Fuel Storage Pool of a VVER 440 Reactor
The article deals with modelling of coolant flow within the spent fuel storage pool of a VVER 440 reactor. The spent fuel storage pool is modelled in a state of standard reactor operation. The coolant heating from the...
