Fabrication of modified cast for orbital prosthesis
Journal Title: Sağlık Akademisi Kastamonu - Year 2017, Vol 2, Issue 2
Abstract
Loss of tissue in the maxillofacial region due to various factors causes physiological, esthetical and psychological problems. Facial prostheses are treatment forms which allow patients to restore the integrity of the deformed face real like and allow patients to go out in public.Fabricating a maxillofacial prosthesis is a time consuming and precious laboratory and clinical process. Preparing a master model is one of the critical stages of the fabrication of maxillofacial prostheses. The master model, on which the wax pattern of the prosthesis is sculptured, became a part of gypsum mould that is prepared for silicone packing afterwards. Good adaptation of wax pattern on the master cast and maintaining this adaptation during trial procedures of the wax pattern is required for good adaptation of final silicone prosthesis to the surrounding tissues. In this clinical report, fabrication of modified cast for orbital prosthesis is presented.
