Factors affecting genetic transformation via Agrobacterium tumefaciens in Phaseolus vulgaris L.
Journal Title: Biotecnología Vegetal - Year 2013, Vol 13, Issue 2
Abstract
Phaseolus genus, as well as other legumes, has proved recalcitrant plant regeneration in vitro and m ai n l y t o genetic transformation via Agrobacterium tumefaciens. Genetic transformation in this species is limited because of their genotype dependent, as well as being a process of low efficiency and poor reproducibility. There are evidences that several factors influence DNA integration and stable transformation of plants. This review aims to analyze the influence of different factors on the efficiency of genetic transformation via Agrobacterium tumefaciens in Phaseolus such as: bacterial strain, plasmid, temperature, lighting conditions, coculture time, bacterial concentration and selection marker.

Agronomic behavior of Gross Michel somaclones (AAA) resistant to Fusarium oxysporum var. cubense obtained using in vitro mutagenesis
The present work was realized in the Institute of Plant Biotechnology (IBP) with the objective to evaluate the agronomical behavior of several somaclons selected in the laboratory with possible resistance or tolerance to...
Propagation of Morus alba var. Creole with the use of temporary immersion systems
The mulberry (Morus alba L.) it is a forage plant of great economic importance. The present work was carried out with the purpose of to in vitro propagate the variety ‘Criolla’ via organogenesis with the use of Temporar...
Somatic embryogenesis in Carica papaya L. var. Red Maradol
The most important papaya variety in Cuba is Red Maradol. However, it is susceptible to the main viral diseases that attack this crop. For this reason, it is necessary to establish a method for plant regeneration via som...
Effect of CO 2 on Coffea arabica L. cv. ‘Caturra rojo’ and Clematis tangutica K. somatic embryos development
Studies to optimize somatic embryogenesis have traditionally focused on the components of the culture medium but little other in vitro environment factors have been analyzed such as the composition of the gaseous atmos...
Effect of substrates mixtures on conversion phase of Coffea arabica L. cv. ‘Caturra rojo’ plants obtained by somatic embryogenesis
The development of somatic embryogenesis of coffee (Coffea spp.) in liquid culture medium is a viable alternative for the propagation of this specie, but high conversion rates are required. The aim of this paper was to...
