Factors that influence the abandonment of anti-tuberculosis treatment in patients who go to the health subcenters in the city of Milagro, 2019

Abstract

Tuberculosis is a chronic granulomatous infectious disease caused by Koch's bacillus or Mycobacterium tuberculosis. The problem that is evaluated in this study is that socioeconomic factors influence the abandonment of treatment in patients, as well as patients abandon treatment due to the side effects that it causes and the patient does not have adequate follow-up by the health personnel. Objective: To determine the risk factors that influence the abandonment of antituberculous treatment inpatients who attend the Health Sub-centers in the city of Milagro. Materials and methods: Survey conducted with patients who abandoned antituberculous treatment. The methods used were analytical -synthetic and empirical methods. From this perspective, a quantitative, descriptive and cross-sectional research paradigm was used. The population under study was made up of patients who abandoned antituberculous treatment in the sub-center of the City of Milagro, with a total population of 60 people studied. Results: The analysis revealed the socioeconomic factors related to the abandonment of treatment in tuberculosis patients, the risk factors that influence treatment abandonment were identified and the strategies that the nursing professional should apply to prevent abandonment of treatment.Conclusion: The abandonment of antituberculous treatment is associated with the care that patients receive in the Subcentre, as well as that the patients consider the treatment of long duration
