Success rate of pregnancy after tubal recanalization

Abstract

Introduction:Surgical sterilization by bilateral salpingectomy is a contraceptive method chosen by 19% of the world population of childbearing age as part of family planning, of this group of patients from 1% to 13% for different reasons decide to reverse this surgery., the same one that is done through a fertility technique. Objective:To determine the efficacy of tubal recanalization in patients undergoing bilateral salpingectomy at the Teodoro Maldonado Carbo Specialty Hospital in the period, January 2015 -December 2019. Materials and methods:This is a retrospective cross-sectional observational study, conducted in the Teodoro Maldonado Carbo Specialty Hospital during the period, from January 2015 to December 2019, with a sample of 65 patientswho met the inclusion criteria. Results:A number of 3063 patients with surgical tubal sterilization by bilateral salpingectomy were presented, of which 65 opted for tubal recanalization to develop a pregnancy. A number of 16 pregnancies were obtained, ofwhich 13 were intrauterine and 3 were extrauterine or ectopic. In the final evolution of the gestation processes, 5 term pregnancies were obtained; 3 preterm pregnancies; 3 ectopic pregnancies and 5 spontaneous abortions. Conclusions.The pregnancy success rate was lower compared to the evidence shown by other studies reported in the literature
