Facts concerning dialect and culture of a village in the dialectological and ethnographical interpretation

Abstract
The article presents various ways in which dialectal facts and the corresponding cultural facts are interpreted. The interpretation is made by dialect-speakers as well as by professional dialectologists at various stages of their work. It appears that various dialectologists interpret identical dialectal facts in a variety of ways. The authors of extensive collective works (e.g. Słownik gwar polskich [Dictionary of Polish Dialects]) keep trying to evaluate these divergences in the objective way. The correct interpretation of cultural facts and the corresponding linguistic (dialectal) facts is of great importance. To avoid mistakes, a cooperation between dialectologists and historians of culture (ethnographers) is highly recommended.
