Unsteady effects at the interface between impeller-vaned diffuser in a low pressure centrifugal compressor
In this paper, Proper Orthogonal Decomposition (POD) is applied to the analysis of the unsteady rotor-stator interaction in a low-pressure centrifugal compressor. Numerical simulations are carried out through finite volu...
Leading Edge Device Aerodynamic Optimization
Leading edge devices are conventionally used as aerodynamic devices that enhance performances during landing and in some cases during takeoff. The need to increase the efficiency of the aircrafts has brought the idea of...
Computational Hypersonic Aerodynamics with Emphasis on Earth Reentry Capsules
The temperature in the front region of a hypersonic vehicle nose can be extremely high, for example, reaching approximately 11 000 K at a Mach number of 36 (Apollo reentry) due to the bow shock wave. In this case, accura...
On the evaluation of mechanical properties of honeycombs by using finite element analyses
This paper presents some general two- and three-dimensional finite element models to study the equivalent orthotropic mechanical properties of honeycombs. The models are developed on a representative volume element with...
EXPLOSIVE FORMING – ECONOMICAL TECHNOLOGY FOR AEROSPACE STRUCTURES
The explosive forming represents a technological alternative for obtaining small-lot parts, with inexpensive and efficient manufacturing preparation. The explosive forming processing methods present a series of important...
