Features of Iron Deficiencies in Infants

Journal Title: Здоров`я дитини - Year 2016, Vol 3, Issue 71

Abstract

The high prevalence and negative effects of long-term iron deficiency for the child’s body, especially during periods of rapid growth and development, cause the need for timely diagnosis and adequate iron therapy for iron deficiencies in infants. The best option, starting from the neonatal period, is the administration of oral preparations of Fe3+-hydroxide polymaltose complex. The article presents data on risk groups, the causes for the development, laboratory diagnosis and clinical features of iron deficiency anemia and latent iron deficiency in infants.
