Features of wave propagation in viscous media in pipes

Journal Title: Modern Innovations, Systems and Technologies - Year 2024, Vol 4, Issue 4

Abstract

This article presents research on wave propagation, specifically focusing on their propagation in half-spaces, at the contact between two bodies, as well as in various plate-like and cylindrical forms. In the region of long waves corresponding to the thickness of the layer, the phase velocity will depend on the wavelength, meaning the phase velocity is frequency-dependent. This characteristic, typical for layered structures, allows the creation of waveguide elements through which waves propagate, as well as delay lines where the delay time is frequency-dependent. It has been established that surface waves can propagate in any direction in isotropic or anisotropic bodies.
