Abstract

The author underlines the feminist issues and manifestations of gender in the texts. It is also prepared the feminine archetypes: the women’s Self (Yoganna), the great mother (Melchola), the Whore of Babylon and the shadow (Sabina), a “noble matron” (Marcia). It is focused on certain gender-specific aspects of the dramas: asexuality, the maintenance of patriarchal practices by women themselves, and the partial implementation of the Gail Rubin’s feminist the “symbolic exchange of women” concept. It is confirmed that both dramas by Lesya Ukrainka clearly represent the femininity in conflict with the masculine world, the problems of women’s self-realization, gender relations, and the mental self-realization of the gender through self-acceptance and acceptance of their transcendental opposition
