FINITE-ELEMENT ANALYSIS OF ACCIDENTAL ENERGIZING OF AN OFF-LINE TURBOGENERATOR
Journal Title: Power Electronics and Drives - Year 2017, Vol 1, Issue 1
Abstract
Background: Presented article shows the computation results of accidental off-line turbogenerator energizing. Inadvertent energizing of turbogenerator has been a particular issue in the power plant. The investigated case is three phase energizing. The great emphasis is placed on the physical phenomena existing in the rotor. Material and methods: Finite-element method Field-circuit model of turbogenerator Results: Computations results allow indicate the risks of construction element damages and can confirm the set values of the limits in dedicated protection devices. Conclusions: Computation results can confirm that inadvertent energizing of the turbogenerator can damage the machine if this abnormal operating state is not detected within a few seconds. Achieved results confirm set values in the protection device dedicated for investigated accident both overcurrent and undervoltage relays. The most vulnerable construction element is rotor wedge localized near to rotor big edge Computed maximum density of induced current in conductive rotor parts equals to ca. 140 A/mm2 and can caused increase the temperature above the acceptable limits.

PARAMETRIC ANALYSIS FOR THE DESIGN OF A 4 POLE RADIAL PERMANENT MAGNET GENERATOR FOR SMALL WIND TURBINES
Background: A review of the literature gives some guidelines for the design of a Permanent Magnet Synchronous Generator (PMSG). Material and methods: In this work a deeper analysis of the available topologies applied to...
Extended T-type Inverter
This paper presents a new concept of a power electronic converter – the extended T-type (eT) inverter, which is a combination of a three-phase inverter and a three-level dc/dc converter. Novel converter shows better perf...
PROBLEMS OF DESIGNING STATE FEEDBACK CONTROLLERS FOR OBJECTS WITH TRANSFER FUNCTION ZEROS
The research paper is devoted to the analysis of the influence of transfer function zeros on the parameters of state feedback controllers. If a transfer function of a control object has zeros which are located closely to...
Neural state estimator for complex mechanical part of electrical drive - neural network size and state estimation performance
This paper presents results of simulation research of off-line trained, feedforward neural-network-based state estimator. The investigated system is the mechanical part of electrical drive characterized by elastic coupli...
INVESTIGATION OF HIGH SPEED INDUCTION MOTOR DRIVE OPERATING IN HOUSEHOLD APPLIANCES
Background: The paper presents conclusions which are results of research on the use of high-speed drives operating in household appliances. The solutions that use three-phase or two-phase induction motors were taken into...
