Finite element simulation of thin-walled reinforced structures in mechanical engineering.

Abstract

In the presented tech-nique of finite element simulation of machine-building thin-walled reinforced structures by the example of drum mine hoisting machines it is shown that models for finite element analysis should take into account the whole number of details, which increases essentially the laboriousness of calculations. Ribs, knee plates which are used to improve the stiffness of structures are stress concentrators. Because of the peculiarities of finite element simulation the equivalent maximum stresses increase essentially in the reinforcement areas with decrease of grid spacing. The proposed Hot Spot Stress tech-nique makes it possible to reduce the calculation values of these stresses in the concentration zone, which makes the calculations more reliable.
