The article presents the fndings of a research project that seeks to identify the characteristics of the fshing industry development in the Camp de Tarragona. The project analyses not only economic factors, but also social and territorial ones, and public policies that have been implemented for this sector. Based on empirical evidence that shows how the fshing activity is organized in the three examined cases, we analyze the role that various social, economic and institutional factors play, and what a sustainable and responsible fshing company management means.
