FLUID THERAPY IN PEDIATRIC NEUROANESTHESIA

Journal Title: Çukurova Anestezi ve Cerrahi Bilimler Dergisi - Year 2019, Vol 2, Issue 2

Abstract

Perioperative fluid management of pediatric patients in neurosurgical procedures requires special attention due to different pathophysiology of pediatric cases, susceptibility to fluid loss, problems in diagnosing possible problems (excessive antidiuretic hormon secretion, cerebral salt-wasting syndrome, etc.) and limitations in monitoring. Fluid treatment in the patient who will undergo operation should include the purpose of replacing the deficiency of the fluid, compensating the maintenance fluid requirements, providing adequate tissue perfusion and reducing the undesirable effects of anesthetics.
