Formation of the European model of constitutionalism: from idea to constitutional system of governance

Abstract
European model of constitutionalism, as a convergence of characteristics of the European states’ national systems of constitutionalism, has a row of features. They appeared not by chance, but were influenced by specific historical factors, that have existed through- out all the history of its formation and development. Exactly they led to existence of the European model of constitutionalism in its present form, predetermined its specificity, understanding of which is closely linked with the awareness of their essence. The article is devoted to the analysis of key stages and features of the formation and development of the European model of con- stitutionalism, as well as those factors that significantly influenced its contemporary content and form.
