FORMING ADHESIVE SEIZING RESISTANCE BASED ON THE SELECTED MODELS

Journal Title: Tribologia - Year 2015, Vol 261, Issue 3

Abstract

Seizing is a tribological destructive process that is inadmissible. This work analyses selected adhesive seizing models (of Kostecki, Blok and kinetic) in the aspect of formulating the premises concerning the forming on their base the resistance to this kind of damage. It was found that, based on Kostecki’s model, the resistance to (cold and hot) seizing can be defined. Blok’s model refers to hot seizing and creates premises for planning associations causing the balance of generated and dissipated heat. Seizing is usually treated as occurring suddenly, which makes determining the demands concerning the counteraction difficult. In case of the kinetic model, it was assumed that seizing is not sudden but occurring in stages, enabling the determination of such demands. Based on this assumption, the anti-seizing effectiveness of machining was analysed: increasing the oil surface capacity and meeting the demand of stopping the frictional contact, producing a surface layer of a positive resistance gradient to cutting, and forming the hardness of the surface layer (without the change of the chemical composition).
