FORMULATION AND EVALUATION OF FLOATING TABLET OF LABETALOL HYDROCHLORIDE

Journal Title: Mintage journal of pharmaceutical and medical sciences - Year 2016, Vol 5, Issue 8

Abstract

Objectives: The present study was undertaken to prolong the release of orally administered drug. The objective of the study was to formulate the sustained release floating tablet of labetalol hydrochloride. Experimental Work: The floating tablets of Labetalol Hydrochloride were prepared by direct compression method. For this, polymers like Polyox WSR 301, 303, 1105 were used in various concentrations. Sodium bicarbonate was used as a floating effervescent agent. The formulations were evaluated for various physical parameters, floating lag time, swelling index and In-vitro drug release. Result and Discussion: From the results obtained, Batch G5 gives desirable Sustained effect for 12 hours having 99.42% drug release at the end of the 12 hours. Batch G5 contain Polyox WSR 303 in concentration 100mg.
