Franciszek Groer (1807–1876) and rhinolaryngology

Abstract

The professional and scientific activities of Franciszek Groer (1807-1876), a well-known Varsovian surgeon, his thorough medical education in various European countries are shortly outlined. He was the head of the surgical ward at Orthodox Jew Hospital in Warsaw and the main doctor at St. Spirit Hospital in Warsaw. Groer’s successful surgical treatment of rhinolaryngological diseases (such as atresia of nares, dental origin maxillar ostitis, tumour of maxillae, trauma of nose, angioma of lip, trauma of lip and abscess of neck at haemophiliac, glosittis, choanal polypus, fi broma of nasopharyngeal cavity, laryngitis) are described in some more detail.
