FRICTION PROBLEM IN PARTICULAR ELEMENTS OF SPINE FIXATORS
Journal Title: Tribologia - Year 2012, Vol 243, Issue 3
Abstract
Progress of engineering science and technology has an essential influence on the medicine development during last 40 years. Combination of these two fields of knowledge bears fruit with production of different kinds of implants. Their usage significantly improves life convenience of many people. Spine stabilizers are the most frequently deployed ones. Unfortunately application of them is connected with numerous problems. Among other things we can distinguish also these that have biotribological background. Usually they are revealed during exploitation. It is because human-made construction and materials are only an attempt of mapping highly advanced nature-made structures and solutions. The author of this article presents results of the static friction coefficient tests as a unit pressure function. Three groups of materials have been examined – austenitic steels (steel 316L), cobalt-base alloys (vitalium) and titanium alloys (Ti6Al14V). Obtained results shows a rapid increase of the static friction coefficient when the unit pressure value becomes higher than 1 MPa.

PROTECTION OF STEAM TURBINE BLADES AGAINST EROSION BY USING LASER CLADDING
In this study, the problem of steam turbines’ blades erosive destruction is analysed. The currently used methods of blade protection using stellite 6 protective plates is outlined in this study. The advantages of this me...
THE TRIBOLOGICAL PROPERTIES OF DLC COATINGS
The paper presents the results of a-C:H and a-C:H:W diamond-like carbon coatings deposited using the PACVD process. The topography, texture, and cross section analysis of the coatings were determined by applying profilom...
ANALYSIS OF THE OIL FLOW AND LUBRICATION QUALITY ON THE POWER SHIFT OF DISC CLUTCH GEARBOXES
The study examined the oil flow openings situated inside the shaft in planes parallel and perpendicular to its axis. These holes, which different cross sections, are used to supply oil to the piston, the space between th...
THE INFLUENCE OF SURFACES FLUORINATION ON TRIBOLOGICAL PROPERTIES OF RUBBER
In this paper, the influence of surface fluorination acrylic rubber (ACM), butadiene – acrylonitrile rubber (NBR) and its hydrogenated analogue (HNBR) on their tribological properties and resistance to ageing in contact...
STUDY OF RESISTANCE TO ABRASIVE WEAR OF MULTICOMPONENT POLYOXYMETHYLENE COMPOSITES
The article presents the results of the comparative tribological study of the resistance of multicomponent polyoxymethylene (POM) composites to abrasive wear. The fillers for the studied POM matrix composites were a PTFE...
