FRICTION PROBLEM IN PARTICULAR ELEMENTS OF SPINE FIXATORS
Journal Title: Tribologia - Year 2012, Vol 243, Issue 3
Abstract
Progress of engineering science and technology has an essential influence on the medicine development during last 40 years. Combination of these two fields of knowledge bears fruit with production of different kinds of implants. Their usage significantly improves life convenience of many people. Spine stabilizers are the most frequently deployed ones. Unfortunately application of them is connected with numerous problems. Among other things we can distinguish also these that have biotribological background. Usually they are revealed during exploitation. It is because human-made construction and materials are only an attempt of mapping highly advanced nature-made structures and solutions. The author of this article presents results of the static friction coefficient tests as a unit pressure function. Three groups of materials have been examined – austenitic steels (steel 316L), cobalt-base alloys (vitalium) and titanium alloys (Ti6Al14V). Obtained results shows a rapid increase of the static friction coefficient when the unit pressure value becomes higher than 1 MPa.

The effect of zinc dithiophosphates on the friction and wear of partially stabilised zirconia. Part III. Lubrication of frictional contact
Lubrication properties of zinc di-n-alkyldithiophosphates (ZDTPs), zinc di(n-nonylphenyl)-dithiophosphate (MAP) and di(di-n-nonylphenyl) dithiophosphate (DAP) depend on the additive molecular structure and its solution c...
ANALYSIS OF THE POTENTIAL USAGE OF SELECTED MAGNETIC FLUIDS IN THRUST SLIDE BEARINGS
Magnetic fluids are substances whose rheological properties can be actively influenced by treatment with a magnetic field. Two main types of magnetic fluids can be distinguished: ferromagnetic fluids, and magnetorheologi...
MODELLING OF CHANGES IN SURFACE TOPOGRAPHY IN DRY SLIDING CONDITIONS
Metrology of surface topography is presently so developed that, in some ways, we can predict the surface behaviour of the one part in co-operation with another element. We can single out two main approaches to the modell...
POSSIBILITIES OF APPLICATION OF NEW MATERIALS FOR CHAIN DRUMS OF ARMOURED FACE CONVEYORS WITH AN INCREASED WEAR RESISTANCE
The primary purpose of this study was to carry out comparative research concerning the wear properties of materials used for chain drums, both of domestic and foreign production, as well as of ADI cast iron, which was co...
STUDY OF FRETTING WEAR IN THE WHEEL-AXLE CLAMPED JOINT MODEL OF RAIL VEHICLES
Wheelsets are among the key components of a rail vehicle. Their task is to guide the vehicle on the track. Any damage or wear may lead to derailment and cause a crash that may cost lives of hundreds of people. Therefore,...
