FUNCTIONAL CHANGES OF POLITICALLY CORRECT IN MODERN FRENCH MEDIA

Abstract
The article touches upon semantic and functional changes of term of politically correct in modern French mass media. The authors give a brief history and denition of term of politically correct. This kind of euphemisms in French mass-media is mainly used to name some social groups and their reality to avoid race and social discrimination. But politically correct terms may misrepresent the meaning, so its necessary to consult the glossary of this kind of terms in order to understand media messages. Because of increasing immigration in Europe some euphemisms to name migrants appeared. However, the media those have an important and evergrowing role in shaping the views of the people, bend the truth giving a positive image of migrants in French society when an average Frenchman doesnt think so. The analysis reveals that additional negative connotations of the term of politically correct because of the latest events in Europe were determined. Just after Nice terrorist attack the politically correctness is strongly blamed for the recent tragedies in Europe.
