Funkcjonowanie specjalnych stref ekonomicznych w Polsce. Aspekty prawne, społeczne i ekonomiczne

Abstract
Special Economic Zones (SSE) are one of the elements of public support for enterprises implemented by the state. Their operation is possible in Poland based on the bill from 1994, amended several times. In years 1995–1997, 17 SSEs were created in Poland. Their main assumption was to accelerate the economic development, in particular in the regions fraught with the most significant problems after the social – economic transformation. Special economic zones have lost their primary nature. It was determined by the statutory agreement to extend the area of the zones as well as the frequent changes of their borders, stemming from greater investment attractiveness. Change of the SSE location stems largely from suggestions of prospective investors. SSE fulfilled the majority of the assumed goals. An inflow of investments resulted not only in a decreased unemployment rate but also, through introduction of modern technologies, it changed the economic structure of the country.
