Journal Title: Medycyna Ogólna i Nauki o Zdrowiu - Year 2014, Vol 20, Issue 2
Abstract
Henoch-Schönlein purpura is a systemic vasculitis of the skin, joints, GI tract, and kidney. The case is presented of a 71-year-old male with HSP, hospitalised due to abdominal pain, diarrhea, arthralgia, and skin rash. The gastrointestinal tract was viewed by upper endoscopy and colonoscopy. Changes typical of HSP were found while performing colonoscopy. Endoscopy may be useful in the diagnostics of HSP, especially when abdominal symptoms are accompanied by cutaneous lesions.
