GASTRONOMIC AND ANTHROPONYMIC CULTURAL CONSTANTS IN BRITISH FOLKLORE

Abstract
Modern sciences, such as folkloristics and linguistics, demonstrate an increased interest in studying English folklore. The article is devoted to the problem of the functioning of gastronomic and anthroponymic cultural constants, which are stored in folklore texts, particularly in phraseological units, fairy tales and ballads. It is reported, that the presence of cultural traces in British folklore is a generally recognized fact. The scientific novelty of the work is in the development of its own methodology for determining cultural constants, as well as identifying gastronomic and anthroponymic cultural constants in British folklore. The analysis allows finding in the language means of the embodiment of images of consciousness, reveals the national mentality, the peculiarities of the worldview and attitude, helps to understand the national character, and indicates the topicality of the chosen topic.
